A video shoot in South Korea gave our photographer the opportunity to capture these images of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis without any camouflage whatsoever. These clear spy photos of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis come almost a month after the automaker released a teaser sketch of the new luxury sedan.
Hyundai has spent more than $470 million developing the new Genesis, which wears the latest version of the corporate styling language called Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. As we saw from the teaser and our spy photos, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis will feature a sharp crease along either side of its body. The roof forms a smooth curve that descends into the trunklid, and the nose has a new shield-like grille design with horizontal chrome slats. Large headlights with C-shaped LED running lights adorn the front, while out back wedge-like taillights reside above a pair of parallelogram-like chrome exhaust tips. The new front grille and the more prominent design lines will reportedly appear on all future Hyundai cars.
Beneath the shiny sheetmetal, the 2015 Hyundai Genesis benefits from more high-strength steel, a new rack-mounted electric power-steering system, and a newly developed all-wheel-drive system called HTRAC, for Hyundai Traction. Powertrain choices will comprise of a carry-over 3.8-liter V-6 and a 5.0-liter V-8, both backed up by an eight-speed automatic transmission. As for the interior, spy photos indicate the 2015 Hyundai Genesis will receive a freshened cabin with a toggle-style electronic shifter, new wood trim, and a revised dashboard design.
Hyundai CEO Krafcik previously told us that the 2015 Genesis will make its U.S. debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show in January. Expect more information about the new luxury sedan to leak out over the coming months.
